Our Experience
We, the leaders of this program, have been working to make the world a better place and reduce our community’s carbon footprint for multiple years now.
Our passion for the environment led us to become involved in the #Decarbonize-Decolonize Initiative a few years ago, which is the world’s largest synthesis of youth research that demands policy and action about Climate Change. Participants from all over the world submit blog posts and art pieces about the climate crisis. Additionally, the club we were a part of was the only school representing the United States for this initiative, and we were some of the youngest participants in the initiative as well. At the end of the year, a group of leaders from all over the world meets at the Conference of Parties UN conference to combine ideas from these blogs and writings into a White Paper that is then presented to the UN. Mallory Weisfeld, one of the creators of our project, was chosen to go to COP25 in 2019, which took place in Madrid, Spain. For more information on this initiative and to read past year’s white papers, please visit www.decarbonize.tigweb.org.
Currently, we are involved in our school's environmental club, where we have the opportunity to work with fellow environmentally conscious and passionate students. As members of this club, we have the opportunity to continue working to raise awareness about the climate crisis in our area and help reduce our community's carbon footprint. Through this program, we hope to share not only our passion with you, but also help you understand the important role you play in combatting the climate crisis.
